Afghanistan ODI Series: Virat Kohli Injured, Yashasvi Jaiswal Gets a Chance in Team India.

In the Afghanistan ODI series, Virat Kohli has been ruled out due to injury, and Yashasvi Jaiswal has been included in the team as his replacement.

I n the ODI series between Afghanistan and India, Virat Kohli has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury, and Yashasvi Jaiswal has been added to the team as his replacement.

He got injured during the IPL 2026 final match, but he is still not fully recovered yet.

According to BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar, Virat Kohli may recover in time for the England series if his rehabilitation goes well. If he is fully fit, he could be included in the England series squad. However, there is no official confirmation yet on when he will make a complete recovery.

Kohli will soon start his recovery program at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Doctors have advised Virat Kohli to take two weeks of bed rest to avoid any further injury or complications.

According to several reports, Virat Kohli’s full recovery may take between 3 to 8 weeks.

In Bengaluru, under the supervision of the BCCI’s special medical team, Kohli will undergo strengthening exercises and laser therapy sessions.

BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar said that the team physio has not yet provided any timeline on when Virat Kohli will be fully fit.

At 37 years of age, Virat is still one of the fittest players in the Indian team. The medical team is hopeful that he may recover even before the expected timeline.

On 6 June in Mumbai, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced this during a press conference.

Talking about Yashasvi Jaiswal, he made his ODI debut in February 2025. So far, he has played 4 matches for India and also scored a match-winning 116-run innings against South Africa.

Shubman Gill has been selected as the new captain of the team.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the vice-captain of the team.

In this team, two superstar players of India, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, are also playing for the team.

There will be a 3-match ODI series between India and Afghanistan, with the first match scheduled to be played on 13 June.

The ODI series between India and Afghanistan will be played as follows:

1st ODI: 13 June 2026 (Saturday) – Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium, Dharamshala – 1:30 PM

2nd ODI: 17 June 2026 (Wednesday) – Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow – 1:30 PM

3rd ODI: 20 June 2026 (Saturday) – M.A. Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk), Chennai – 1:30 PM
