Although the BJP is in power in only 17 states across the country, if we talk about the Chief Minister with the worst public image, it would be Rekha Gupta. Many of her statements have gone highly viral on the internet.
Every now and then, she makes a statement that goes viral on the internet.
"Recently, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made a statement that once again went viral on the internet. While addressing the issue of water scarcity in Delhi.
she said,
“Due to the heat, water evaporates into vapor and flies away, which has led to a shortage of water.
”
Speaking at a program in Delhi, she addressed the issue by saying.
“There is a severe water shortage. With the intense heat these days, some of the water supplied gets evaporated along the way, which leads to a reduction in the available water.”
After this remark, the TMC and the Congress ridiculed Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and used the opportunity to target the BJP as well.
The TMC, in a post on its official X handle, wrote:
“The water that comes to us,
It evaporates in the middle, that's why there's a water shortage
These are the thoughts of Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ji on the water crisis in Delhi 🤦🏻♀️
”
Congress national spokesperson Supriya Shrinate posted on X:
“"The water shortage in Delhi is because the water coming from the Yamuna evaporates."
Rekha Gupta ji, Chief Minister, Delhi
There is a water crisis in Delhi, and these are the thoughts of its chief minister—God save us!
The BJP is full of such gems.
”
Another Congress spokesperson, Ragini Nayak, wrote on X:
““The water that comes to us,
It evaporates in the middle, that's why there's a water shortage”
These are the thoughts of Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ji on the water crisis in Delhi 🤦🏻♀️
I mean, there should be some limit to foolishness 🥴”
Following this statement, Rekha Gupta faced widespread ridicule, and the BJP was also widely mocked over the remark.
This is not the first statement for which Rekha Gupta has faced criticism. She has made several other remarks in the past that have also drawn criticism.
While speaking about air pollution, she mistakenly referred to the AQI (Air Quality Index) as 'AIQ'.
During an interview, she drew a comparison between the AQI and a thermometer used to measure temperature.
Recently, following a hotel fire in Malviya Nagar, Rekha Gupta visited the injured people in the hospital around 26 hours later, a move that was criticized by many.
During a discussion about Bhagat Singh, she mentioned Congress rule when she was actually referring to the period of British rule.
A recent image of the Delhi Chief Minister sitting in his office has gone viral on the internet. In the photo, he is seen using a chair that is not an ordinary one. The luxury chair he is reportedly using is said to be valued in the market at approximately between ₹66,000 and ₹82,600.
Until a few days ago, Rekha Gupta used to make strong statements against luxury, but today she is seen using such a luxury chair.
The model of the chair is “Red Oak 'Imperio.'"
When pollution levels in Delhi were at a very severe stage, the Delhi government ordered 15 air purifiers for the Secretariat and the Chief Minister’s office. People who used to claim that pollution would not persist in Delhi seem to have ensured clean air arrangements for themselves.
A total of ₹545,175 was spent from the government treasury to purchase those 15 air purifiers.
Each ‘smart’ air purifier was priced at approximately ₹36,345.
There have been several instances where Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has made incorrect statements. Making a mistake once or twice is understandable, but when it happens repeatedly, it is neither good for her public image nor beneficial for the BJP.
