Four people were killed in southern Lebanon in an Israeli attack.

A ceasefire was recently reached between Lebanon and Israel, but according to reports from Lebanon’s state media, an Israeli drone carried out an attack in southern Lebanon.

A ccording to Lebanon’s state media, four people were killed on Wednesday in parts of southern Lebanon after an attack by Israel. The strike occurred while talks about a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel were ongoing.

According to a report by the National News Agency (NNA), an Israeli drone strike hit the town of Yahmar al‑Shaqif in the Nabatieh District in southern Lebanon, where two people were reported dead and several others injured.

NNA also reported that in the southern village of Tiri, two more people were killed in the attack.

Images of the Israeli attack circulating on social media show thick brown clouds of smoke rising above the lush green fields of the town of Qantara. According to the National News Agency (NNA), the smoke rose after the Israeli strike.

Last week, ahead of the second round of ambassador-level talks between Israel and Lebanon, exchanges of fire were reported between Israel and Hezbollah.

Hezbollah reportedly launched a drone attack on the Israeli army, which was shot down by Israel.

According to reports from the National News Agency (NNA), the Israeli army also used bulldozers in several areas, demolishing homes and causing damage to residential neighborhoods.

U.S. President Donald Trump had called on Israel and Lebanon to observe a 10-day ceasefire. The ceasefire was scheduled to begin on April 16 at 5:00 p.m. (ET) for Israel and from midnight in Lebanon.

The United States also stated that Israel could take necessary steps for self-defense and urged Lebanon to prevent Hezbollah from carrying out attacks or hostile activities against Israeli positions.

According to reports by the National News Agency (NNA), at least six people have been killed so far in Lebanon in Israeli strikes. Israel has said that the shooting targeted individuals who had come very close to the defense line in southern Lebanon. However, Lebanese officials say they still do not have a confirmed or complete record regarding the incident.

According to Israel, two Israeli soldiers have also been killed so far in southern Lebanon.
