April 14, 2026, will always be remembered in Indian politics, as on this day Nitish Kumar, known as ‘Sushasan Babu,' resigned from his post as Chief Minister of Bihar.
He is the first leader in the country to have taken the oath as chief minister 10 times. On April 14, 2026, he resigned from his post. In the recently held elections, the NDA secured a majority. Nitish Kumar has served as the Chief Minister of Bihar for more than 20 years and is one of the most prominent figures in Indian politics.
Nitish Kumar became the chief minister of Bihar for the first time, but due to a lack of majority, he remained CM for only 7 days.
In 2005, with the alliance of the BJP and JD(U), Nitish Kumar became the chief minister of Bihar for the second time.
Once again, the BJP and JD(U) alliance secured a strong majority, and Nitish Kumar became the chief minister for the third time.
After the Lok Sabha elections, following his resignation, Nitish Kumar took an oath as chief minister for the fourth time, with Jitan Ram Manjhi briefly serving as CM in between.
After the public mandate in Bihar for the Mahagathbandhan (JD(U)–RJD–Congress), Nitish Kumar took the oath as chief minister for the fifth time.
After leaving the Mahagathbandhan and joining the NDA, an NDA government was formed in Bihar, and once again Nitish Kumar took an oath as chief minister for the sixth time.
Once again, with JD(U) in alliance with the NDA, a government was formed in Bihar, and Nitish Kumar became the chief minister for the seventh time.
After separating from the NDA, Nitish Kumar formed a government with the Mahagathbandhan, and once again, he became chief minister for the eighth time.
After breaking ties with the Mahagathbandhan, Nitish Kumar once again joined hands with the NDA, and a government was formed in Bihar. He became the chief minister of Bihar for the ninth time.
The JD(U) and NDA contested the elections together, and the NDA secured a strong mandate. Nitish Kumar became the chief minister for the tenth time.
