In the ongoing Test match between India and Afghanistan, India registered the biggest victory in their Test cricket history by winning by an innings and 300 runs. Before this, India's largest Test win was against the West Indies in 2018 at Rajkot, where they secured victory by an innings and 272 runs.
The match ended on the third day itself, with India securing a historic and emphatic victory.
After winning the toss, India elected to bat first and posted a massive total of 564 runs in their first innings. In response, Afghanistan were bowled out for just 152 runs in their first innings. Forced to follow on, Afghanistan struggled again in their second innings and were dismissed for only 112 runs, handing India a historic victory by an innings and 300 runs.
If only Afghanistan's first-innings score were considered, India effectively outscored them by 412 runs, highlighting the sheer dominance of their performance in the match.
Looking at the overall match, India captain Shubman Gill was the highest scorer for India, smashing 126 runs off 177 balls, including 15 fours and 1 six. On the other hand, Afghanistan's top performer with the bat was Rahmat Shah, who scored 60 runs off 135 balls, featuring 9 fours and 1 six.
Afghanistan's batting performance was extremely disappointing throughout the match. Apart from Rahmat Shah, none of the other batters made a significant impact, as the entire batting lineup struggled against India's bowling attack.
In contrast, India delivered an excellent all-round performance, excelling with both the bat and the ball. On the bowling front, Manav Suthar emerged as the standout performer, claiming a total of seven wickets across both innings—the most by any Indian bowler in the match.
In Afghanistan’s second innings, only a few batters managed to contribute meaningfully. Sediqullah Atal top-scored with 42 runs off 80 balls (5 fours, 1 six), followed by Rahmanullah Gurbaz with 24 runs off 24 balls (3 fours, 1 six) and Rahmat Shah with 13 runs off 16 balls (including 1 six).
Apart from these performances, the rest of the batting lineup failed to reach double digits, resulting in a very poor overall showing from Afghanistan in this Test match.
The Afghanistan team was bowled out in just 35 overs at a run rate of 3.12, failing to build any significant partnerships throughout the innings.
Washington Sundar took 4 wickets in 11 overs in this innings, taking his total to 5 wickets in the match.
In Afghanistan’s second innings, Manav Suthar and Mohammed Siraj both took 1 wicket each.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav took 3 wickets in 7.5 overs.

In Afghanistan’s first innings, there was no strong batting performance. The entire team was bowled out for just 152 runs in 58.4 overs, with a run rate of 2.59, as India dominated completely with the ball.
In Afghanistan’s batting across both innings, Rahmat Shah was the highest run-scorer with 60 runs off 135 balls (9 fours, 1 six), which remained the top individual score in both innings. After him, the captain Hashmatullah Shahidi contributed 20 runs off 48 balls (4 fours), while no other batter managed to cross the 20-run mark.
Two players, Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Saleem, were dismissed without scoring any runs (0).
In Afghanistan’s first innings, India’s bowling attack dominated the game. Manav Suthar picked up 6 wickets in 22 overs, while Prasidh Krishna took 1 wicket in 11 overs, helping India bundle Afghanistan out cheaply.
