India’s largest and most widely used airline, IndiGo, has a new CEO today, William Walsh. In the coming time, it will be seen what changes and updates take place at IndiGo Airlines.

After Peter Elbers’ sudden resignation, William Walsh has been announced as the new CEO.

William Walsh’s term at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) is set to end on July 31, 2026. After that, he is expected to take charge as the new CEO on August 3, 2026.

IndiGo’s chairman, Vikram Singh Mehta, said, ‘I am very happy that William Walsh (Willie) will be the new CEO of IndiGo. He is a strong global aviation leader and has previously led several airlines successfully, which are now performing very well in the market.

Mehta stated that William Walsh possesses extensive experience in managing the operations of major airlines and navigating market conditions. He is the perfect choice to strengthen IndiGo and steer it forward within today's competitive market and the international aviation sector. His appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for IndiGo. IndiGo operates in one of the world's fastest-growing aviation markets, and this will continue to fuel the airline's growth moving forward.
