Presley Gerber, Son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, Dies at 27

Presley Gerber is dead at 27.

Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber have lost their older child.

A representative for Crawford confirmed it on Sunday, and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office says he died at a rehabilitation facility. That's really all that's official right now. No cause of death yet. Those things take time.

Santa Monica police were called out Sunday morning over a report of a possible overdose at the facility. Officers found Gerber dead around 9:35 a.m., and paramedics pronounced him roughly ten minutes later, at 9:45.

Suspected overdose, that's the phrase police used.

Worth pausing on the word suspected for a second, honestly, because toxicology results can take weeks, sometimes longer, and until they're back, nobody outside that investigation actually knows what happened.

IMG Models signed him at fifteen years old. He made his runway debut at Moschino's Resort 2017 show in LA, and after that his career moved fast, the way it tends to when your mother is Cindy Crawford and cameras were already half-interested in you before you did anything at all.

He walked for Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, Bottega Veneta.

Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren picked him up a bit later.

Calvin Klein put him in a campaign, and so did Celine, Pepsi and Omega.

He turned up in GQ Style and in The New York Times Style Magazine too.

In 2019 he moved to DNA Model Management, the agency that also represents his sister Kaia, along with people like Emily Ratajkowski. He'd also started dabbling in investing on the side, at least according to his own agency bio, though how serious that side of things actually was is anyone's guess.

This is maybe the thing worth saying about Presley Gerber most of all. Unlike a lot of famous kids who let a publicist smooth over the rough patches, he just... didn't.

A DUI arrest in 2019, at nineteen, and afterward he talked about it openly, went into treatment, made no real effort to bury the story. A year before that he'd gotten a face tattoo reading MISUNDERSTOOD, and when the internet came for him over it, he didn't delete the post or go quiet. He argued back.

Then in 2024 he started Mental Health Mondays, short videos where he'd just talk to a camera about whatever was going on with him that week. This past December he posted something to Instagram, later taken down, where he mentioned being on antidepressants and medication for panic attacks, and said he'd had a lot of loss lately, in a lot of different forms, without saying much more than that.

His sister Kaia mentioned it too, just last month, in a Vogue interview. Addiction touching a family, she said, tends to level everyone in it.

Cindy Crawford posted for his 27th birthday back in July. Said she was proud of who he'd become, though she'd always see him as her little boy. Ten days before he died, she gave an interview about something else entirely, talking about becoming an empty nester now that both kids were grown and gone.

Rande Gerber, her husband for nearly three decades and the man behind Casamigos, hadn't put out a statement of his own by Sunday night. No funeral details. No memorial announced yet, at least not publicly.

He leaves behind both parents, and Kaia, who built her own career in front of cameras but mostly avoided the kind of headlines that followed her brother these last few years.
