T his is not the first time that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been surrounded by allegations of consuming alcohol. Even PM Modi once took a dig at Bhagwant Mann, and there are several videos on social media that show his unusual behavior, suggesting that he may have been under the influence of alcohol.

Today, opposition parties in the Punjab Assembly alleged that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann arrived at the Assembly under the influence of alcohol.

The Shiromani Akali Dal has made a post on the X platform.

It is very shameful that @BhagwantMann came to the sacred Assembly House today on the occasion of ‘Labour Day’ under the influence of alcohol.
You can see for yourself the condition of the Chief Minister and how he is behaving in the Assembly.

The Shiromani Akali Dal strongly condemns this conduct of the Chief Minister. He should not have gone there after consuming alcohol on such an important day.

The Shiromani Akali Dal demands that a dope test of the chief minister be conducted in front of the entire Punjab today so that the people of Punjab can also know the truth.

The leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly said while speaking to the media:

“What are we even supposed to do by coming to the assembly when the chief minister himself is in an intoxicated state? What is the point of holding a session when the head of state is completely drunk? Our demand is that everyone should be tested.”

Recently, Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, who has just joined the BJP, shared a video on the X platform in which allegations have been made that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann appeared to be under the influence of alcohol while speaking in the Assembly.

She wrote on X:

Today again, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has reached the ‘temple of democracy’—the Punjab Assembly—completely intoxicated with alcohol.

This man goes to a Gurdwara Sahib after drinking alcohol, goes to temples after drinking alcohol, used to come to the Lok Sabha after drinking alcohol, attends government meetings after drinking alcohol, and has consumed so much alcohol abroad that he was removed from a plane.

Before the elections, he had sworn on his mother’s head that he would never drink alcohol again.

The chief minister of a sensitive border state like Punjab remains intoxicated most of the time and even signs official files while under the influence. What shamelessness is this?

How can a person who is only away from alcohol during sleep run Punjab? CM Mann should undergo an alcohol test, and if found guilty, should be removed from the post of chief minister.
Reply from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP):

Punjab AAP President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, while speaking to the media, said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government had convened a special session to honor the hard work and contribution of laborers.

He also said that Congress is making baseless and unnecessary statements, which is unfortunate. According to him, this is like adding salt to the wounds of workers, and it undermines the dignity of the House.
