Shreyas Iyer Gets Big Responsibility as India Announces Test & ODI Squad Against Afghanistan.

India announced its Test and ODI squads for the series against Afghanistan, and Shreyas Iyer has been given a major responsibility.

T he Board of Control for Cricket in India on Tuesday announced both the Test and ODI squads for the upcoming one-off Test and three-match ODI series against Afghanistan scheduled to be held in June.

All the matches between Afghanistan and India will be played in India.

The first Test match will be played from June 6 to June 10 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA Stadium, beginning at 9:30 AM.

After that, a three-match ODI series will be played.

  • June 14 – 1st ODI at HPCA Stadium – 1:30 PM
  • June 17 – 2nd ODI at Ekana Cricket Stadium – 1:30 PM
  • June 20 – 3rd ODI at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium – 1:30 PM.

Several players have been dropped from the squad, while some new faces have also been included.

Rishabh Pant has been dropped from the ODI squad and removed as vice-captain of the Test team, though he remains part of the Test squad.

Ishan Kishan has been added to the team as the wicketkeeper in place of Rishabh Pant.

The most shocking name in the ODI squad is Shreyas Iyer, who has returned to the team after a long time and has also been appointed as the vice-captain for the ODI series.

New faces like Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, and Harsh Dubey have been given an opportunity in the ODI series.

Prince Yadav plays domestic cricket for Delhi and is currently representing Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL.

Gurnoor Brar plays domestic cricket for Punjab and is currently representing GT in the IPL.

Harsh Dubey is currently playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.

All three players have been included in both the Test and ODI squads.

Shubman Gill (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul (Vice-Captain), Sai Sudharsan, Rishabh Pant, Devdutt Padikkal, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Manav Suthar, Gurnoor Brar, Harsh Dubey, and Dhruv Jurel.

This is the squad for the ODI match:

Shubman Gill (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (Vice-Captain), KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, and Harsh Dubey.
