he second round of direct talks between Israel and Lebanon is expected to take place on Thursday. This information was shared by an Israeli official and a U.S. State Department official.
The first meeting between the two sides was held on Tuesday, in which Israel’s ambassador Yechiel Leiter and Lebanon’s ambassador Nada Hamadeh participated on behalf of their countries. The upcoming second meeting will also be held at the ambassadorial level.
Today, Lebanon’s president's office announced that Simon Karam, a former Lebanese ambassador to the United States, will lead Lebanon’s delegation in the second round of talks.
Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun said that the main objectives of the meeting are to stop hostile activities, end Israel’s control over southern areas, and secure international recognition for the Lebanese army and deploy it in southern Lebanon.

He added that U.S. President Donald Trump intervened with Israel to help secure a ceasefire and facilitate discussions.
The United States has welcomed the upcoming talks between Israel and Lebanon and said that both governments should continue to promote direct and constructive dialogue to maintain peace between the two countries.
Before last week’s talks, there had been no direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon for decades.
Direct talks between Israel and Lebanon are upsetting Hezbollah and its allies.
